Austin based artist Sharawi has been honing her skills as a multidisciplinary artist since 2007. Originally a photographer and then owner of her first photography studio at the age of 18, she’s evolved her self-portrait photography skills with painting to create a perfect marriage of but two of her many artistic passions.

Sharawi continues to be inspired by her struggles with mental health, her culture, and the legacy of strong female rule breakers in her family. Her focus is to thrive as a woman of Egyptian heritage and to translate the wordlessness of being into the tangible experience as witnessed through her art.
